SHORT STORIES: Like most fiction writers, I began my
own writing endeavors with short stories. And like many fiction writers
who have given any time at all to the craft, I have numerous short stories
in differing stages of completion. To date, the number is somewhere between
20-25 stories, half of which are complete. Four of these were published
in the mid-90s in small press magazines that were popular in that time
of plentitude.
Three of these previously published stories are available on my Short
Story Blog for your reading "pleasure." The fourth (which was my
first published fiction piece in 1994) will be re-released in a short reader
along with a new story entitled Cain Wyse. "Two
for Tonight" will be an inexpensive paperback in the tradition of
those long-forgotten dime novels. The stories are each 30-40 pages and provide
a quick read for our attention-deficit society.
NOVELS: I have always believed that my destiny is storytelling. It is the one true thing that I love to do. Unfortunately, it is a labor of love. The publishing industry is going through so many changes, the economy is stagnant, and society in general has forgotten how to escape into the length and complexities that novels thankfully provide so storytellers find it hard to survive on words alone.
But, like anything, if you really want it, you keep trying.
The first novel I ever attempted still sits in a box in my garage. It is a fantasy novel entitled "The Fairest Princess." It is 52 pages long. Will I ever finish? Perhaps. The major characters still live in my head.
The second novel I attempted was completed in 1996. "Cold Discovery" was not published. My efforts at the time circled back to academics and the completion of college, my interests in web design, and teaching. So "there was no time" to dedicate to the time-consumption necessary for first-time authors who wish to succesfully market their hard work.
And then came "The Cubit" or more appropriately "The 2012 Trilogy." The concepts evolved so naturally. The characters, the intricate plot elements, the underlying themes of Good vs. Evil, Destiny, and the Prophecies associated with the End of Days.
And as excited as I am about the release of this first book in the trilogy,
what I have in store for the readers of the trilogy next in "The
Djed"... I get a chill just thinking about it. The characters
are leading me and together, we'll all take a trip toward December
21, 2012. And right along with us will be the continuing saga
of reality, the mounting threats to Earth, its inhabitants and
the Universal Spirit that we all keep clinging to in hopes that
it will save us...
Photography
As a long-time member of the West Virginia Wesleyan College community, black and orange runs deep in the veins. I have always been very close to the athletics teams at the college and have been involved with photography (and video) for many years.
Since
my storage archive is of more value to those whose loved ones
are presented in the shots, and since I feel it is my way of
giving back to the student-athletes and their families as they
struggle through juggling books and sports, and because there
has been a recent rise of local photographers making such stop-action
quality available at a cost, I am now making these original sports
photos available to the public at no cost for personal, non-commercial
use only.
Currently there exists archives of the following teams/years (this collection will continue to grow as much as my web space will permit). Individual shots are the original, hi-resolution files that print wonderfully as is or can be brought into an image-editing program for manipulation without hampering quality.
